Portuguese Language Course for Foreigners

All Portuguese language courses are held at the Fecap campus in the neighborhood of Liberadade, in the center of São Paulo city, with easy access via metro or bus. FECAP provides all of its foreign students with detailed information and guidance regarding:
  • Where to find accommodation in the city of São Paulo, with several price alternatives;
  • Where to eat, also with several price alternatives;
  • How to travel around the city using the varied transport alternatives;
  • Leisure areas, with cultural and sporting activities in the city.
During the entire stay for a FECAP course, foreign students will have a 24 hour support service at their disposal for any necessities.

Basic Course

Total Hours: 64 hours
Duration: two weeks (12 days of class, from Monday to Saturday)

At this level, students initiate their knowledge of the Portuguese language learning how to communicate using simple, short phrases related to everyday topics.

Objective: initiation of comprehension and oral and written production.

Some aspects approached:
  • Greeting, asking and giving personal information;
  • Introducing people;
  • Introducing people.
Intermediate Course

Total Hours: 64 hours
Duration: two weeks (12 days of class, from Monday to Saturday)

At this level, students advance their knowledge of the Portuguese language learning how to communicate using more elaborate phrases related to everyday topics.

Objective: development of comprehension and oral and written production.

Some aspects approached:
  • Expressing preferences, agreeing, disagreeing;
  • Expressing beliefs or conviction;
  • Expressing ideas and opinions;
  • Offering to help do something, requesting, ensuring that which was promised is delivered.
Advanced Course

Total Hours: 64 hours
Duration: two weeks (12 days of class, from Monday to Saturday)

At this level, students enhance their skills in the Portuguese language, consolidating their knowledge on how to communicate about everyday life, topics in general and topics related to their area of professional interest.

Objective: Enhancement of oral production. Development of written production.

Some aspects approached:
  • Expressing indifference, agreeing, disagreeing, promising, praising;
  • Giving advice, asking and granting permission;
  • Transmitting and referring to statements by others;
  • Expressing ideas and opinions.
